France CLIDAT (1932–2012) The Tree Takes Flight, 1970 Original ink drawing Signed in ink On paper, 24 x 15.5 cm PROVENANCE: This drawing comes from the personal collection of Pierre Lhoste. A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thereby creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: France Clidat was a French concert pianist. A winner of numerous international competitions, she was nicknamed “Liszt’s pianist” for her masterful interpretation of the Hungarian composer’s works. She enjoyed an international career, recording numerous albums and teaching at the Paris Conservatory.
