A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thereby creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: René Huyghe was a French art historian, writer, and member of the Académie Française. As chief curator at the Louvre Museum, he taught at the Collège de France and was elected to the Académie Française in 1960. A specialist in Western painting, he helped popularize art history among the general public through his numerous books and lectures.
