Georges PILLEMENT (1898–1984) The Tree in Color, ca. 1972 Original ink drawing Signed in ink On paper, 24 x 15.5 cm PROVENANCE: This drawing comes from the personal collection of Pierre Lhoste. A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thereby creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Georges Pillement was a writer, translator, photographer, and specialist in French cultural heritage. Beginning in 1941, he published a series of books dedicated to the preservation of ancient monuments (including *Destruction of Paris in 1941*). He also authored numerous books on art and photography, such as *Les Cathédrales d’Espagne* and *Beautés cachées de la France*, and was actively involved in heritage preservation organizations.
