Revolutionary spade iron known as the "Weapon of Liberty". Strong stab, double-edged middle edge and "AN" hallmark for "ateliers nationaux". Heavy oxidation. Total length approx. 65 cm. France, French Revolution period, circa 1792. This type of pike was produced, among others, under the impetus of Carnot and his famous speech of July 25, 1792, known as "des trois cent mille piques" ("three hundred thousand pikes").
