"Shiva Lingam", phallic symbol of Shiva. - Lot 178
"Shiva Lingam", phallic symbol of Shiva. Polished natural ritual stone of elongated ovoid form, the carefully polished surface reveals a dense lithic material with natural reddish-brown, ochre and grey veining, reminiscent of the tiger-skin garment worn by the ascetic god Siva, aniconic form associated with Hindu worship (linga or sacred stone type), where the material itself becomes a medium of devotion. North India . Provenance: Former Maurice NICAUD collection (Estate)
