SONGYE POWER STATUE - NKISHI - DRC (FORMER ZAIRE) Upper LOMA - Lot 101
SONGYE POWER STATUE - NKISHI - DRC (FORMER ZAIRE) Upper LOMAMI region
This magnificent statue was collected in the early 20th century. The face is very naturalistic, with a circular, laughing mouth. The sculpted headdress is very beautiful.
Also noteworthy is the treatment of the hands, on which the fingers are well separated, resting on the prominent abdomen. The deep patina is smooth and remarkable.
