A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thus creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Marc Blancpain was a French writer, translator, and educator. A specialist in French language and culture, he served as president of the Alliance Française and worked to promote the French language worldwide. He also published several novels and essays, notably on the Francophonie and contemporary literature.
