A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thereby creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Georges-Emmanuel Clancier was a French writer, poet, and novelist, a major figure in 20th-century literature. His work, both lyrical and socially engaged, explores memory, time, and the human condition. He is best known for his novel series *Le Pain noir* (1956–1961), which was adapted for television in 1974. He was a member of the National Writers’ Committee and the recipient of numerous literary awards.
