A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thus creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Victor Franco was a French journalist, writer, and foreign correspondent. A specialist in the Middle East and international affairs, he worked for several major French newspapers, notably *France-Soir* and *Le Figaro*. He published several essays and works of geopolitical analysis, which reveal a deep understanding of the diplomatic issues of the 20th century. His clear and informed style made him a leading authority on political reporting and media coverage of diplomacy.
