Pierre MAZEAUD (1920–2000) The Alpine Tree, circa 1974 Original ink drawing Signed in ink On paper, 24 x 15.5 cm PROVENANCE: This drawing comes from the personal collection of Pierre Lhoste. A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thereby creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Pierre Mazeaud was a French lawyer, mountaineer, and politician. A professor of law and RPR member of parliament, he served as Minister of Sports (1976–1977) and President of the Constitutional Council (2004–2007). He was also the first Frenchman to climb Annapurna in 1970 and led the first French expedition to successfully climb Mount Everest. Very good condition; edges of the page are slightly damaged and yellowed.
