A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thus creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Pierre Petitfils was a French writer, literary critic, and literary historian. A specialist in Baudelaire and 19th-century poetry, he published numerous essays and biographies, including *Baudelaire*, *Paul Valéry*, and *Une vie d’écrivain*. A member of literary juries and a contributor to literary journals, he was a great champion of both classical and modern French literature.
