A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thereby creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Gilles Ragache is a French historian and writer. A specialist in 20th-century social and political history, he has published numerous works on World War II, the Resistance, and the daily life of the French people under the Occupation (*La France de Pétain*, *Les Français de 1939 à 1949*). A meticulous researcher and renowned popularizer of history, he regularly contributes to historical journals.
