A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thus creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Denis de Rougemont was a Swiss writer, philosopher, and essayist. A thinker of personalism and a fervent advocate for European unity, he is the author of *L’Amour et l’Occident* (1939), a major work analyzing romantic passion in European culture. As the founder of the European Cultural Center in Geneva, he had a profound influence on 20th-century humanist thought. Very good condition; page edges are slightly damaged and yellowed.
