Raymond TRIBOULET (1906–2006) The Tree with Claws, circa 1977 Original ink drawing Signed in ink On paper, 24 x 15.5 cm PROVENANCE: This drawing comes from the personal collection of Pierre Lhoste. A radio journalist, Pierre Lhoste (1913–1984) asked the prominent figures he interviewed to provide an autograph accompanied by a drawing of a tree, thus creating a unique record of his interviews. INFORMATION: Raymond Triboulet was a French politician and diplomat. A member of the Resistance during World War II, he was the first prefect of Calvados after its liberation in 1944. A member of the National Assembly representing Calvados from 1946 to 1973, he held several ministerial posts under the Fourth and Fifth Republics. A member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, he worked to preserve the memory of the Resistance and to advance European integration.: Raymond Triboulet was a French Resistance fighter and politician.
