[ARTIFICIALIA] - Lot 71
[ARTIFICIALIA] Large pair of CLOSSE (Nany) brand horse-drawn carriage or calèche lanterns, circa 1900–1910, featuring a candle holder, silver-colored reflector, and side glass Distinctive feature: the beveled, horseshoe-shaped glass panes H.: 47 cm Included is a wooden box and an acetylene lantern or headlight by G. Ducellier H.: 26 cm without the handle This lamp consists of two metal reservoirs: a water reservoir stacked on top of a calcium carbide reservoir (carburetor). The lamp’s light output depended largely on the quality and flow rate of the burners, which in this case are Bray combined burners (whose advantage is the projection of two gas streams against each other, thereby significantly increasing the size of the flame) Note that the projection glass is green with a white crosshatched center and that the lantern has a red reflector
